The month of LOVE!

Image
February started with a surprise bachelorette party for Shauna.  One of the many games we played. We had to guess how long it would take for Shauna to put on everything in the suitcase behind her.  Another game, where you have to draw a picture of what you think the bride's dress looks like.... on your head.   The beautiful cupcakes created by the one and only Laura Possamai. She is a science teacher, mom, and baker on the side!  And then we met up with the crew of boys! Love is in the air! <3      At the end of the month they got married. They are moving to Singapore next year and I am so excited for them! Back in December, they asked Mike and I to sing "Fields of Gold" (accompanied by Mike's guitar) during their first dance. So we did. Hopefully they enjoyed it. That was the first and I imagine probably the last time anyone asked me to ...

Margarita and Los Roques

Image
I am inspired to catch up on Blogging about my travel adventures. This was from November 2016.  In Margarita, an Island owned by Venezuela, and also Los Roques, people lead a typical Island lifestyle. It is relaxed and filled with good vibes. You take a "lancha", which is a small motor boat from one island to the next-- that is how it is with all of the islands in VZ.  November 18-20th  After we took off for Margarita, I love seeing the view of this famous bridge in Maracaibo! The sunsets are unbelievable.  My travel buddy who won himself a plane ticket to Margarita during an EBV family BINGO night. And then who won the championship for both his middle school and high school girls basketball teams. Pretty amazing! November 24-27th  In Los Roques, I wore pounds of sunblock, but still got burned anyway. The sun beats down on you from sunrise to sunset. Unless you are "lucky" enough to be there in the middle of a storm....

Since I have a lot of making up to do, I will be short and sweet about updates from this year.  1.      I have 15 students this year. I love each of them so much. Their hearts are larger than life, and I can see it with the way they interact with each other, and also with me. 2.      I started out the year with a new assistant, but about 1 month into the school year, she needed to be moved to another grade. I was alone, but trying to be patient, and they finally found a new assistant for me! Since being alone, I really thought about the role of having an assistant in my room. I created my classroom environment for 2 people, so being those 2 people at the same time is impossible. Something I do question often, though, is whether or not I fully utilize having an assistant. I’m sure if I had the time to plan ...
