Our Last Hoorah!
XXX
My mom and I made a wonderful friend named Micky on our tour in the Cotswolds, and I really wanted to see her before I left London; so I visited her apartment in Chelsea. This was the view from her apartment.
Little did I know, Micky was actually having a luncheon with a group of friends to celebrate the 1 year anniversary of the death of a close friend; she didn't tell me because she knew i would have felt like I was intruding. How adorable, but true. I had a HUGE, delicious, home cooked meal, accompanied by 8 older women and 1 man, and some great conversation!!
SEXY SAX MAN in Waterloo!
Our last week of adventures began in Madrid. 7 krazy kids! Alexa, Jill, Brian, Brendan, Elliot, Curt, and me :)
Some views of the city...
That awkward moment when the men and women's bathroom share one sink. Curt and Jilly got creative when they washed their hands!
This was the most crowded market I have EVER seen. Imagine the considerate parents who pushed their kids in strollers through this mess of a crowd.
Look at us, lookin' like we love each other!! :D
Sunset gives the best lighting!
Now here's something you see everyday-- A man walking his pet pigs.
Cute little spanish children eating their lunches on a field trip!
While there, we went to a Flamenco show!
Did not want to come back. lol
Last dinner in Madrid; the Sangria was definitely the best part...Or was it the bowl of tomatoes I apparently ordered for my meal?
Adios Madrid, and Bonjour Paris!!
We basically ate in this restaurant, The Place, the whole time.
What a crazy area this was!!! I never REALLY realized what it was. Wow.
Palace of Versailles! Finally I can put my knowledge from Western Civ. in use!
My favorite room in the palace, called the mirror room. Chandeliers everywhereeee!
I've never seen stairs that are actually worn down.
There he is! Louis XVI in all his shining glory!
Can't believe how many pictures I took of trees when I uploaded them.
Got to visit my dear Helen in Paris!
Before we knew it, we were on our way to our last destination on our vacation! When we were checking in to the airport in Paris, a photographer was taking pictures of a man who worked for Ryan Air, having him pretend to be working. HILARIOUS. I was dying. What companies do to advertise I tell ya!
Hola Barcelonaaaaaa! Had no idea that they spoke Catalan, and not Spanish. WOOPS, well I tried my best. We stayed at the coolest hostel ever.
The boys made themselves right at home!
Brendy gets all sensitive on the guitar!
And here we are, spelling out LAME (shout out to my girl Jilly). This accurately depicts our relationship. I love these people SO MUCH!!
My one touristy adventure in Barcelona, to Sagrada Familia. I have never been so blown away. This church has been being built for 150 years, and will not be done until 2026. The most amazing part for me was understanding the meaning behind the architectural plans.
Barcelona from a far.
Barcelona VS Villa Madrid; I will really miss European Futbol.
I wasn't too prepared for the night life here. Unaware that they go out around 1 am. Lots of late nights for us in Barcelona, one being at this bar/club called Shoko!
I'm so artsy!!!! Total accident!
The coolest Aussie guy we met, posing for my picture; I swear he looked just like Russell Brand. That was a bucket of Sangria.
But why is the American dollar so ugly.
The cutest old man ever, who helped us walk straight for 5 blocks (I obviously came off like I don't know what straight looks like on my map). But he was still adorable.
And in a blink of an eye it was all over. We were leaving to get our luggage in London, and then it was off to JFK airport in New York.
We slept at Stansted for the night, and went to Heathrow the following morning. This poor poor woman had about 6 bags--which had to have weighed over 50 lbs each-- twins who were 2 years old (tired, cranky, and devious), and no idea where she was going. I pushed her kids in the stroller and helped her find her way, I hope she got to where she needed to go. Really hoping someone helped her on the train. Don't know how my mom did it when Rachel and I were that age!
Back in London.......
One last notice of the culture on the tube. It has surrounded me since September. I'll miss it.
Last meal for now from Pret, only my favorite Christmas sandwich ever.
Without question, I will be back to England. But for now it's time to enjoy being back with my family and friends :)
