Thanksgiving at Roxeth!

Alexa, Jodi, Jess and I put on a Thanksgiving assembly at internship; we gave one turkey feather to each classroom and asked students to fill out what they are thankful for!

I AM THANKFUL...

"...that England didn't rule India or America forever."




"The rainy day because I get to stay inside."
"We have wonderful clouse (class)"




"I'm thankful for having a great life"
"Protection from abuse and neglect"




"I do not live in a country where war is going on"




"Clean water, fresh air, and a roof over our heads"





"I am thankfull because I saved a life with my mum and me with oil water and leave" --Not quite sure what this one was getting at
"I'm really thank you for someone like _____ because whenever I am sad she come to cheer me  up. She even listens to me."




"I am thankful for my religion because in some places they are not allowed to be a christian."





"Thanks for Mr. Kraskros moustache" L.O.L

The weekend that past was a holiday here, Fiestas de Quito, and while everyone celebrated their traditions here, playing Cuarenta (a super competitive card game), eating hornado (pork) a traditional dish accompanied with avocado, mote (which is in the corn family), and llapingachos (potatoes), I flew to Colombia. Colombia is a place that people are afraid of. Many people think of Colombia as a place that still holds the reputation it had in the past, especially in the city I was in, Medellin. The truth is that it is a place that has clearly come a very long way from crime and drugs--not to say it doesn't exist--but I didn't feel threatened by either in the time I was there. Introduction to Venezuela: Week 1

Hello World! I know there are so many people wondering what in the world I'm doing in South America. Well, I made a promise to myself after I studied abroad that, before I "settle down", I will teach abroad.  So... Because of my unbelievably supportive boyfriend Seth and my family who are worried every minute of the day--and I'm sure even in the middle of the night, I have taken a 5th grade teaching position at Escuela Bella Vista (EBV), an IB American school in Maracaibo, Venezuela. In the middle of my first year of teaching as an ESOL teacher, I applied to all of the international schools that offered positions through my account on ISS. I took this job because of two teachers who have been working at EBV for 5 years.
