Setting the Scene... Part I

Monday, August 3. Day 1: Todd Zukewich starts off the year with a presentation! He and Ms. Gomez gave us a generous amount of time throughout the week to set up our classrooms. I learned that time is never enough!

This anxiety driven folder had my schedule and class list inside of it. Teachers were in a sweat yearning for their them! What was only 3 days of waiting felt like much more. I knew I had nothing to worry about since I didn't know any students, but my reality of teaching at EBV truly came to life once I saw the list.

Wherever I go, my name is always spelled wrong! Of course I had it fixed though.

It has been a chaotic week, but I have stopped many times to enjoy the things that are right in front of me. I love the way the sunshine comes in, in the morning. I bought this sunflower to brighten this place up, and it seems to be doing a wonderful job :) I can't wait to get more.

You can never have too many pool days!! Kristin, Sam, and Natalia

I taught Kristin's daughter Emmie how to do slo-mo. This is one of the many quality videos I captured of her at the pool.

We went to Court's over the weekend. Chef Court made us chicken wings with a spicy thai curry sauce, pita pizza with ranch, garlic powder and mozz, daiquiris, ice cream with espresso, chocolate, and peanut butter. Then we all went to a bar called Candy's. I realize that I need to take more pictures of people, so you know who I'm talking about :D.

Sunrise from my window. Makes me happy. Only a morning person would appreciate this!

We had such a wonderful lunch one day last week. Unexpectedly fancy! I asked for a limonada y a cesar pollo wrap and here is what I got...

Friendly game of Futbol after work.

Pasta with grated cheese and sundried tomatoes. Im trying mom!!!

My first day of school shoes. So cute, right? I wish they were as comfortable as they are cute though. Blisters all over :(.

One of the first assignments I gave my students is to create a reading "nook" in their homes. This is a picture of mine! I'm trying to find a way to encourage reading when they are at home. I can't wait to see what they come up with!

Here is the 5th grade team!!!! My teaching partner is Julie (in blue). Lucy (next to me) is her Instructional Assistant, and Sam (next to Julie) is my Instructional Assistant! The past two weeks have been crucial for ensuring a successful school year, and Sam has been so helpful and patient. We ALL know how I get when I am stressed. YIKES. He always looks out for me, and is so great with our students. I am confident that this 5th grade team will help me have an amazing year at EBV.

Once my classroom is pretty enough, I will take pictures of it. Hopefully I will get to taking them this weekend!!!
