It’s been a while my friends! Grades due last week, I was
away last weekend, this week was parent teacher conferences… It’s been crazy!
Some updates:
1. I went to a beautiful place called Puerto La
Cruz. We spent the weekend on boats—the same boat my family had growing up. We
were so exhausted from the days that we didn’t do much exploring but we did go
out to dinner. My wonderful friends really took care of me. I had not one but
two birthday dinners!! The food was excellent but the company was even better. On
the day of my birthday, I got many unexpected texts and emails from my students
wishing me a very happy birthday! It was adorable.
2. Tuesday when we got back from our 3-day weekend,
the day was extremely chaotic. I didn’t stop moving. I got an email from my
principal around 11:00 asking me to meet with her about our trip to Orlando at
12:10, which is right in the middle of our writing block. So I nearly missed
the meeting because I am so terrible at keeping track of time, but I thankfully
made it. When I got back to my room it was around 12:35 and the door was
locked. I opened the door and balloons were flying all over the place. My
students screamed, “HAPPY BIRTHDAY!” It was a wonderful surprise. My room-mom came
in with pizzas and cake for our class in celebration of me! My TA, Sam, planned
the whole thing, and everyone was in on it. He even told Ms. Gomez to have a “meeting”
with me to get me out of the room. How sneaky and clever! Sam told our students
that they could talk about the party in Spanish, because obviously I wouldn’t
understand anything they were saying lol. Sam also had his friend make this
unbelievably delicious cake for me. It
was wonderful.
