The month of LOVE!

     February started with a surprise bachelorette party for Shauna.
















 One of the many games we played. We had to guess how long it would take for Shauna to put on everything in the suitcase behind her. 


Another game, where you have to draw a picture of what you think the bride's dress looks like.... on your head. 



 The beautiful cupcakes created by the one and only Laura Possamai. She is a science teacher, mom, and baker on the side! 







And then we met up with the crew of boys!









Love is in the air! <3

     At the end of the month they got married. They are moving to Singapore next year and I am so excited for them! Back in December, they asked Mike and I to sing "Fields of Gold" (accompanied by Mike's guitar) during their first dance. So we did. Hopefully they enjoyed it. That was the first and I imagine probably the last time anyone asked me to sing at their wedding! I must say, it was an experience that I would never have imagined being able to have the courage to do. I'm sure I wouldn't have been able to do it without my cheerleader Sara, who was the one who helped Mike and I see straight when we were being hard on ourselves.

     My dear friend Osmary kicked off the wedding with her incredible mandolin playing skills. She was a hard act to follow! It was so beautiful.

    ALSO, I have to give credit to Chelsea who let me borrow this beautiful dress. Love you!

I am lucky to have friends who know hair. Thanks Erica!

The weekend that past was a holiday here, Fiestas de Quito, and while everyone celebrated their traditions here, playing Cuarenta (a super competitive card game), eating hornado (pork) a traditional dish accompanied with avocado, mote (which is in the corn family), and llapingachos (potatoes), I flew to Colombia. Colombia is a place that people are afraid of. Many people think of Colombia as a place that still holds the reputation it had in the past, especially in the city I was in, Medellin. The Globe + Failed Night Out

Introduction to Venezuela: Week 1

Hello World! I know there are so many people wondering what in the world I'm doing in South America. Well, I made a promise to myself after I studied abroad that, before I "settle down", I will teach abroad.  So... Because of my unbelievably supportive boyfriend Seth and my family who are worried every minute of the day--and I'm sure even in the middle of the night, I have taken a 5th grade teaching position at Escuela Bella Vista (EBV), an IB American school in Maracaibo, Venezuela. In the middle of my first year of teaching as an ESOL teacher, I applied to all of the international schools that offered positions through my account on ISS. I took this job because of two teachers who have been working at EBV for 5 years.
