Roma


My mid-term break journey started with flying over the Alps to get to Italy!.




First stop: The Forum & the Colliseum 





High school history FINALLY makes sense: these are the aqueducts that water flowed through in Rome!

This was the view from our hostel. We had an amazing balcony that we definitely used to our advantage, while being in a perfect location right next to a park.

This is the biggest ball of smush ever. I loved every minute of petting him!!!









Something I found interesting was that Rome had drinking water fountains throughout the whole city.

We woke up at 7:00 am to go to the Vatican and  the Sistine Chapel (for free)-- We should have gone earlier because the line was already so long when we arrived! Thankfully we were in and out :) 













The pope was doing a Mass so we got to see him speak!








Just some complimentary bruchetta as we waited for our meals. 




And so, I lived off of hand rolled gnocchi and pizza all week long.






And I can't possibly forget the gelato!




Comes  close to being the best gelato I had in Italy. 











 Our last dinner in Rome, we all went out together, Jillian sat next to me-- As you can see it makes sense why we understand each other so well!!




I  just love her!

The weekend that past was a holiday here, Fiestas de Quito, and while everyone celebrated their traditions here, playing Cuarenta (a super competitive card game), eating hornado (pork) a traditional dish accompanied with avocado, mote (which is in the corn family), and llapingachos (potatoes), I flew to Colombia. Colombia is a place that people are afraid of. Many people think of Colombia as a place that still holds the reputation it had in the past, especially in the city I was in, Medellin. Introduction to Venezuela: Week 1

Hello World! I know there are so many people wondering what in the world I'm doing in South America. Well, I made a promise to myself after I studied abroad that, before I "settle down", I will teach abroad.  So... Because of my unbelievably supportive boyfriend Seth and my family who are worried every minute of the day--and I'm sure even in the middle of the night, I have taken a 5th grade teaching position at Escuela Bella Vista (EBV), an IB American school in Maracaibo, Venezuela. In the middle of my first year of teaching as an ESOL teacher, I applied to all of the international schools that offered positions through my account on ISS. I took this job because of two teachers who have been working at EBV for 5 years.
